ZERO Emissions

ZERO Emissions

100% Electric

The Prairie JOY electric vehicle, released in 1997, was the first lithium-ion battery powered car. Followed by the PIVO in 2005 – the first vehicle with a compact, laminated lithium-ion battery. We launched the all-electric Nissan LEAF – in 2011. The Nissan LEAF represents a truly historic moment in our own and the automotive industry history – but it’s just the latest chapter for us in a book that spans decades of conceptual and technical work. The full story stretches back to the 1940s.

Zero emission mission

Creating a zero emission society is a brave vision, one which will involve mass production, supplying thousands of cars to markets around the world. Extensive collaboration with multiple countries and their governments, electricity providers and specialists who can help us create the infrastructure to make the system work for everyone.Efficiencies in electric vehicle technology go beyond the powerful, light, easily rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Electric vehicles have the highest rate of tank to wheel energy conversion, and the CO2 emissions from source of fuel to driven wheel are massively reduced compared to conventional power units. EVs have a better conversion rate compared to other fuel cell technology. In addition, Fuel Cell Vehicles and EVs produce no emissions, and EVs use 100% of the energy it produces (compared to 80% for a standard fuel vehicle).
